Bansko Snowboarding, Skiing and Winter Hiking
Bansko is the biggest and most modern Bulgarian winter resort. It is situated in the heart of the Pirin mountain and starts with the city of Bansko.
Pros:
- Perfect facilities - modern and well-maintained lifts. You will never happen to be in a line and waste your time waiting;
- Perfectly maintained ski runs - smooth enough to give pleasure even to the perfection loving skiers; There is a fun park with jumps and ramps too.
- Great variety of slopes suiting everybody. It is also possible to ride off the ski runs;
- Very high slopes with snow until late Spring;
- Night life at its best - many bars, pubs, night-clubs;
- Cultural sightseeings;
Cons:
- Expensive - this is the most expensive Bulgarian winter resort. The lift pass costs 25 euros per day. A night in a hotel is around that price too.
- 3 hours from Sofia by car. 1 hour from the Northernmost part of Greece. However, the road is very well maintained and this should not be a problem.
- Bansko is criticized for being too commercial, business-like resort. It has lost the beauty of a small historic city because of its extensive growth.
